Inspired by the pioneering work from the Dorrestein group on mass-spectrometry networking as a tool to identify new natural products, we applied the community-based platform (GNPS) to perform unbiased metabolomics experiments in various settings and niches to study microbial signaling: soil, marine sediments, the human gut, microbial communities in zoo animals, etc.
